The “Draconian Influence”
This recall election isn’t just about removing the current Board of Directors—though their financial missteps are reason enough. More importantly, it’s about breaking the outsized influence of the Kelly Corporation and empowering our Board to make independent, common-sense decisions for our community.
Right now, our Board operates in fear—fear of questioning Priscilla Management Services (PMS), the management company that seems to run our neighborhood more like a for-profit business than a non-profit, member-driven community.
How Did We Get Here?
Over the years, PMS has consolidated power by ensuring that Board Members defer to its advice, rarely questioning policies that ultimately serve PMS’s bottom line—not ours. Their model thrives on conflict and penalties, keeping homeowners in a constant state of worry, much like those old elementary school threats: “This will go on your permanent record!” The Board keeps your record of violations from birth to death, then they use it to calculate your fines.
But this isn’t elementary school. And our homes shouldn’t be governed by fear tactics.
The Business of Enforcement
Here’s something you may not know: PMS isn’t just a management company—it’s a Licensed Collection Agency. That means enforcing rules, issuing penalties, and collecting fines are their primary revenue streams. Their low management fee is just the bait—the real money comes from the fines and fees they impose on homeowners like you.
Ever wonder why the contract with PMS is so cheap? Now you know.
The Draconian Influence Must End
The term “Draconian” refers to the Athenian lawmaker Draco, whose legal code prescribed extreme punishments for minor infractions—punishments so severe they were written in blood. Sound familiar?
It’s time to break free from this oppressive cycle. A recall isn’t just a vote against bad management—it’s a vote for common sense. It’s a vote for a Board that governs for the homeowners, not for a profit-driven management company.
The question isn’t why you should vote for change.
It’s how much longer can we afford not to?
