Is Your Insurance MIA?

Fire In the Sky

Just The Facts

A new national study says nearly 1 in 7 U.S. homes are uninsured—that’s 11.3 million homes out of 82.9 million. If that trend holds true here in Eastridge Hills, 10 of your neighbors could be one burst pipe or wildfire away from a financial disaster. Yikes.

What’s Going On?

The data, from LendingTree and FEMA, didn’t just crunch national numbers—they zeroed in on the top 25 most at-risk counties for disasters. Their red flag? Owner-occupied homes spending less than $100 a year on insurance. That’s not coverage—that’s wishful thinking.

Fun Fact with a Side-Eye:

New Mexico tops the list with 23.3% of homeowners skipping insurance. And yes, our own HOA Vice President claims New Mexico as home base… with her second property parked right here in Eastridge Hills. Coincidence? We’ll let you decide.

Why It Matters:

Most common insurance claims? Fire and water damage. And as any seasoned homeowner knows, “surprise” leaks, electrical sparks, and aging roof lines don’t care if you’re fully covered or not.

Call to Action:

Let’s not play the odds when it comes to our homes. Homes in Eastridge Hills have increased in value over the past few years and the minimum of 80% of retail structure value is the cutoff where claims will not be paid in full. Double-check your insurance. Look beyond the premium and ask the hard questions: Are you protected for fire? Theft? Water damage? Earthquakes?

Because here in Eastridge Hills, community means having each other’s backs—even when disaster strikes.
