Progress, Patience, and a Path Forward on Back Gate Security
Reality:
When this new Board stepped forward, we made a clear commitment: Improve security , embrace transparency and move toward placing a live guard at the Bridle Ridge (back) gate. That commitment hasn’t changed.
What has become clearer over the past several months is this: Because our community shares access infrastructure and cost responsibilities with the EPOA, achieving that goal isn’t a one-sided decision. It requires alignment on how security is deployed, how costs are shared, and how both communities operate together under the existing easement agreement.
We’ve made some progress . . . reviewing costs, evaluating guard deployment options, documenting incident patterns, and engaging in discussions aimed at a practical, long-term solution. At the same time, we’ve encountered real challenges in reaching agreement on the details of shared services and cost allocation.
Consequences:
We have a choice in how we proceed.
We could push forward unilaterally and risk:
- Increased disputes between associations
- Higher legal and administrative costs
- Delays caused by conflict rather than cooperation
Or we can take a more disciplined approach:
- Work toward a coordinated plan that supports both gates
- Establish a fair and durable cost-sharing structure
- Deliver a solution that holds up—not just this year, but for years to come
One path feels faster. The other is more stable, more defensible, and ultimately more effective.

We are asking for a little more time to continue working toward a negotiated agreement that removes the current barriers to cooperation and allows us to implement a stronger, unified security plan.

Rushing may feel satisfying in the moment.
